Halmstad City LibraryHalmstad City Library
Halmstad Municipal Library was inaugurated in 2006. With its stunningly beautiful modern architecture on the waterfront and its activities focused on the role of the library as a meeting place, centre of knowledge and experience room, the Library has become a symbol for the town of Halmstad. The Library displays a great openness to new activities and possibilities, at the same time as it is deeply rooted in library traditions such as the strengthening of reading skills and lifelong learning.

Halmstad University Library

Halmstad University Library

The University Library is a welcoming building which was inaugurated in 1998 and designed by Stellan Eriksson and Ellika Stahre. The Library has its own library computer system, created using FileMaker. The library also contains a unique archive of local material from the Region of Halland.

Falkenberg LibraryFalkenberg Library

Falkenberg is beautifully situated at the coast and possesses a picturesque old town centre. Falkenberg Municipality has a population of 40,000 and a network of libraries consisting of a central library, five branch libraries, and two mobile libraries. The libraries of Falkenberg devote resources to the following focus areas: children, the future, accessibility and flexibility. Falkenberg has succeeded in conceiving new ideas concerning mobile library solutions focusing on accessibility. “Källan” (the source) is a branch library run together with a youth recreation centre. Through a large school library project, all library and school staff will now be involved in close co-operation concerning the development of children’s reading.

Hylte Public LibraryHylte Public Library
Hylte library is a library of personalized service. We attach importance to good accessibility in the physical space and through a wide media offering. Society Hyltebruk is 140 km southeast of Gothenburg and about 40 km north east of Halmstad. Hylte municipality is mainly appreciated for the beautiful countryside with large forests and 300 lakes.

Kulturhuset Fyren (the Lighthouse Cultural Centre) in KungsbackaKulturhuset Fyren (the Lighthouse Cultural Centre) in Kungsbacka

The library in the town of Kungsbacka is located in Kulturhuset Fyren (the Lighthouse Cultural Centre), an open and spacious building where a number of varying activities contribute to a vibrant environment. Recently the library for children and young people was expanded and re-designed. Kungsbacka also runs an award-winning mobile library.

The upper secondary school library at Peder Skrivare’s School in Varberg
Peder Skrivare’s School has a spacious and open library with excellent prerequisites: a good budget and a principal who is of the opinion that the School’s library has an important role to play. The library houses the course literature of the departments of Swedish and English. The School’s DVD and VHS films are available at the library and all teaching aids are registered in the School’s library catalogue and can be borrowed from the library. Around 2,000 pupils attend the School, which also caters for pupils with special needs.
